Terms of Service
Version 2026-08-18
Draft placeholder
These terms are being finalised with counsel. The summary below describes what we intend them to cover and is not itself a legal agreement. We will publish the operative text here before it takes effect, and anyone who accepted an earlier version will be asked to accept the new one.
1. What the directory is
ChemRails publishes a directory of chemical manufacturing facilities compiled from public EPA registry data. Facility records describe registered operating scope. They are not statements about any facility's compliance record, and we do not publish enforcement history or release volumes.
2. Claiming a listing
By claiming a listing you confirm that you are authorised to act for the operator of that facility. We verify claims by sending an invitation to a work email address at the operator's own domain; completing a claim requires access to that mailbox. We may review, decline, suspend or transfer a claim, including where a claim is contested by another party at the same organisation.
3. Content you add
Operator-supplied content — capabilities, certifications, descriptions and contact details — is published as you enter it and attributed to your organisation. You are responsible for its accuracy. You may not edit the EPA-derived facts on a listing; those come from the public registry and are not editable by operators. We retain a revision history of all edits.
4. Accounts and access
Accounts are individual and must not be shared. You are responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend access for misuse, misrepresentation of authority, or attempts to claim facilities you do not operate.
5. Removal
Operators may request corrections to a listing or ask that a claimed listing be released. Because the underlying facility data is public record, releasing a claim removes operator-supplied content but does not remove the facility from the directory.
